Positive Response at Map Asia 2007 in Kuala Lumpur

The Mango Team received a positive response to the latest version of MangoMap at Map Asia 2007. “People seemed to like our fresh, clean design and ease of use appealing to both people browsing maps for fun through to decision makers”, said head of Internet Development, Christopher Brown. “We also received valuable feedback about what people will need in 12 to 18 months time, which we will incorporate into our development strategy” noted Brown.

Managing Director Jeffrey Himel added that “the Mango product was designed to provide a cheap and effective way to provide a geographic context for data in low bandwidth environments. The low bandwidth approach was dictated by the poor state of Cambodia's communications infrastructure, where high speed internet is not available, and even moderate bandwidth is very expensive, putting many applications out of reach for ordinary users.” “The advantage,” Himel says, “is that you can use Mango almost anywhere you can get a telephone connection. If you can access proper broadband, it is VERY fast.”

People also expressed their surprise that such a mature and capable system could be developed in Cambodia and many saw applicability in their own markets including Africa, the Middle East and numerous Asian countries
